Red Carpet, Opera, Favourite Food and Typhoon

Hello!!
It's been a while ^^ Have you been worried? thaha Don't be :) I was busy and lazy ^^

So last week, I have been to school, language course and taekwondo during the week. On Thursday there was a national holiday. On this day Korea was founded. Or at least that is what the legend tells us. The Story of Tan'gun sounds like a fairytale to us. You can read a short version here Even in Korea most of the people don't believe it. But still it is thaught to little kids and everyone knows the story.

So on Thursday I went to the BIFF (Busan International Film Festival). I did not really go to the festival, but i waited about 3 hours in front of the red carpet, because my hostuncle (Jennifer's host father) told us that famous people would walk here. As it turned out they left the building through a different exit, but at least we waited together and had fun. ^^ Also we met a Iron-Man cosplayer and saw beautiful fireworks. (I was very surprised when they suddenly went off. xD)

On Friday I had school again but at night we went to see La Traviata. We got the tickets sponsored by a Rotarian. The opera was in italian and on the sides they showed korean subtitles, sooo i did not really understand. And somehow I don't think it was too good. I mean I am the wrong person to judge this, because I have never been to an opera before. But it felt as if something was off. Oh, and koreans don't care about dressing fancy for the opera. I was worried about what to wear before, but as it turned out I could have worn anything and it would have been okay. ^^

The Weekend was playtime. So I was in Nampodong and Seomyeon. Again ^^ I always end up there even though I want to explore new places ^^ But I found one other place that is similar to my three favourites, it's Bude (the shortform of Busan International University). Around the university there are a lot of oportunities to eat, drink coffee and shop. (I bought a dress there) And the campus itself is huge, I have only been around the entrance and already saw a lot ^^ maybe i can look around there more :)

So my favourite food in Korea :) Well or my favourite sweet food to be more exact ^^
1. 녹차빙수 (nokchabingsoo= Green tea bingsoo) Bingsoo is crushed ice with Icecream and other topings. you eat a little bit of the toppings and then mix it all together and eat it. It comes in different flavours. The original is 팥빙수 (patbingsoo = sweet red bean bingsoo). I think you could mix anthing together and make bingsoo out of it ^^ but my favourite is Greentea-bingsoo.
2. 홑떡 (hotddok) I don't really know what it actually is but it is sweet and cheap and hot ^^. I know that the filling is brown sugar and the one i mostly get (and the most delicous one) also comes with seeds. They sell it on the streets, and almost everytime we are out at night we get one ^^ just because it's soooo good ^^

There are other really delicious things but those two are just my favourites. I reallz want to learn how to make them because i know that I am going to miss them once I am back home ㅠ.ㅠ

So and this week I had another daz off from school. On Wednesday it was 한글날 (hangulnal) so the day hangul, the korean writing system was invented. A little bit of history The night before Hangulnal a Typhoon hit south korea. I was not out during the worst rain and wind, but somehow I had expected more. It almost felt like a stormy rain back home in Austria. I did not see any damage in the morning either, except for broken umbrellas. And since none of you asked me if I was fine I guess it was not serious enough to be on international news ^^

From Thursday to Friday I went on a trip. I am going to write another blogpost about this. Soon. Maybe right now ^^

Love and all the best
Maria (who is doing fine in korea ^^)
